An introduction to Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP)

Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP) is a complete system that combines verbal work with breath and body wisdom for the systematic integration of body, mind, emotions and spirit (see: www.ibponline.org). It is a gentle and powerful way of confronting one’s deepest patterns that are located in the body and unconsciously control our lives. Real change comes with insight, but only when awareness permeates the entire being – body as well as mind. IBP emphasizes the importance of relationships and focuses upon awareness at all levels, resulting in profound life-enhancing transformation.

This program is intended for

  • Anyone seeking more awareness and aliveness in their personal lives and relationships.
  • Professionals wishing to incorporate the most advanced somatic approaches into their practices. CE credits are available.

Format: The introductory program includes presentations, demonstrations, experiential opportunities, group discussions, individual sessions, and breath & movement work for sustaining integration and well-being. Take-home resources are included.

This introductory seminar is a great way to experience the power, sophistication and elegance of the IBP system. For many people, it is the first step toward IBP professional training. With applications considered on an individual bases, 200 hour IBB foundational programs are offered at The Haven. This 200 hour program can be extended to an additional 200 hour (3 year) professional training for licensed, or licensed-eligible mental health, or allied health, professionals.

I have participated in the two-year IBP foundational program. This program provides effective mental health tools that address a broad spectrum of community needs. I have been able to integrate these concepts in both my personal and professional life. Now, no matter what happens, I am calmer and more compassionate with myself and others. IBP has changed my life!

Pattie Lusk-Johnson

Executive Assistant to the Director, Canadian Mental Health Association.

I entered into IBP training for personal reasons and found it enormously beneficial in my own journey as well as my marriage and relationships in general. I also use the IBP principles as a physician specializing in psychiatry and notice significant positive changes in my patients.

I am already seeing benefits in my personal life from the breathing exercises that I do every day. I also use breathing techniques with my grandchildren and the other children that I work with.

I most appreciated learning to breathe, coming back to the sacredness of the circle, and respect offered to each person's process.
