Five Elements Practicum

Chinese medicine for mind, emotions and spirit

This program focuses on the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of Chinese Medicine. Haven core faculty member and licenced acupuncturist Jane Olynyk offers a theoretical and practical grounding in its use as an alternative or complement to other psychological systems. With an emphasis on the crucial role of contact, the program will be useful to those who work with people in a wide variety of settings, including interns or group leaders in Haven programs.

The program includes:

• An introduction to Five Elements Theory, Qi (Chi), Yin/Yang theory, and concepts of Micro/Macrocosm, Harmony vs. balance, and Dualism
• A review of each of the Elements, including their spiritual aspects and key personality characteristics
• Identifying imbalance in the Elements, using pulses, colour, smell, voice tone, and language
• How to move Qi, including the use of source points and other therapeutic techniques
• The Cycle of Change - a process that can be used to identify blockages at the microcosmic level to the macrocosmic level

Format: Participants will utilize their rich personal imagery and body experience to connect with the Elements and each other. The learning process is relational, creative, and practical. Participants should have taken New Horizons Phase III or have some basic knowledge of Chinese Medicine.

Tuition: $510.00 (Accommodation and meals extra.)

Early Bird Tuition: $450.00 if you register and pay in full at least two weeks in advance.

Accommodation and Meals
The Haven offers a range of comfortable rooms and suites. All accommodation is designed to be shared by two or more people, though private rates are available. We make every effort to meet the needs of all our guests, but cannot guarantee specific rooms. Rates include three buffet-style meals per day.

There are three types of room: Basic, Forest view, and Ocean view.
