non violent communication: a process of life
AN NVC retreat with Mitchell Miyagawa
This week-long program is designed to support the ongoing development and integration of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) consciousness, whether participants are relatively new to NVC or experienced practitioners. You'll have an opportunity to practice NVC with guidance, compassion, and support, whether your aim is to broaden awareness in your personal life, teach the process to others, impact positive social change in the world...or all three.
Mitchell Miyagawa, the NVC trainer for this program, says this about his personal experience of NVC: I was first drawn to NVC in the midst of a period of turmoil and change. NVC was a gift during this time. It was a new way of relating, first with myself, then my wife, children, family, and community.
NVC allows me to stand strong in my weaknesses and those parts of me I would rather sedate or control – most notably those pesky things called feelings. Using the NVC process helps me to be stay present in all my relationships, and listen with empathy and understanding. Having an NVC consciousness has supported me to stay strong and clear as I explore what’s most meaningful in my life. Most of all, NVC is a lens through which I see every conflict or “disconnect” as a message - an indication that I need to look inward to what is alive in my heart.

This training will include opportunities to:
Course Prerequisite: We ask that you read Dr. Marshall Rosenberg's book, "Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life" and that you have introductory level training in Nonviolent Communication. If you are unsure whether your NVC experience is sufficient for you to enjoy this NVC immersion retreat, please email Mitchell Miyagawa at email@example.com to arrange time for a brief phone conversation to discuss this.
Beginning on Friday evening, with an opening circle for sharing and connecting, the retreat will flow into Saturday with a full-day NVC review - an opportunity for seasoned NVCers to learn new ways to enhance their own outreach and for those new to NVC to learn the process. The balance of the week will deepen the process for all, with an emphasis on the spiritual foundation of the NVC process, natural and authentic expression, transforming pain, and deepening empathy skills. Be sure to bring ideas, props and musical instruments if you have them for the "No-Talent Show" on Thursday evening.
