process of connecting

Many Relationships start out with great promise; we are deeply connected to our partner and believe we will live happily together for the rest of our lives.

During the years we often find ourselves more distant, struggling to find meaning in a relationship that began with such connection and possibility. This program will help to bring understanding to what went wrong, and offer useful ways to work through the stuck places, providing participants new opportunities to create a deeper understanding of their partner and themselves.

Using Attachment theory (our deepest need throughout life is to be connected to another) and other approaches, this program will present a useable model for participants to hold themselves and their partner in a more loving, sustainable way and help make sense of their conflicts.

This program is for couples who are:

  • In a primary relationship together and want to deepen their connection
  • Feeling stuck and distant, and uncertain how to create change
  • Doing OK, and would like more skills to keep their relationship healthy
  • Considering separating
  • Going through a trauma, such as an affair, illness, loss
  • Tired and/or frustrated with repetitive un-resolving conflict
  • Wanting to begin their new relationship on a strong foundation

Format

The program is presented in a clearly understandable way through engaging presentations and experiential exercises that are either done with relationship partners or alone. Participants will leave this program knowing how to identify where they are getting stuck in their relationships, and know ways to get moving again. In addition, couples will be introduced to practical methods to process an issue in ways that move to greater connection. They will also learn how to provide safe, nurturing support to each other, and how to interact in a more meaningful way together.

I've been afraid to get angry for fear of hurting those I love. I now know that expressing this aggress energy is not only helpful to me but can help to maintain bonds between me and others.

When I left home to attend Anger, Boundaries & Safety I was preparing to end my marriage. When I returned home I was prepared to stop using my anger as a weapon and start using it with care and permission. Will I succeed? I don't know, and I do know I have a better chance now that I have the skills I learned during this impactful program!
