testimonial - louise forget
Louise Forget has recently moved back to Quebec after a career transition to the Tourism Industry. For 11 years she served in the Air Force as a navigator.
What brought you to The Haven?
After experiencing several serious emergencies during my time in the Air Force, I was released from the military for medical reasons after being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. My whole life had crumbled like a house of cards! I first heard of The Haven when I was going through counseling.
What programs have you done?
I started with Come Alive with Wayne Dodge and Gwen Ewan in October 2006, followed by their Self-Compassion course. Hungry for more, I took Phase I the following year and a number of shorter courses since then.
How have the programs benefitted you?
At The Haven I have learned a wide range of tools to live my life to the fullest. I learned to communicate, to practice self-compassion, to live in the present to be responsible for my own health, to state my boundaries, to connect more deeply with others, to be vulnerable, and mostly to be honest with how I felt. I am a much stronger person today and I know who I am in the moment as I choose to live my life with passion, honesty and integrity. I can now say that those traumatic experiences in my life were by far the best thing that happened to me. I am extremely grateful for all the personal learning gained from my recovery.
